ANGE Postecoglou has endured a nightmare start to his tenure as Brisbane Roar coach, seeing his side go down to Central Coast 3-0 at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
While Postecoglou wasn't officially meant to have taken charge until Monday the former Qantas Young Socceroos boss couldn't resist addressing his players before the game and at half-time, having watched them concede two goals in the opening stages.
Having struggled to score goals all season, the Mariners flexed their muscles in the forward third from the fourth minute as Nicky Travis slid the ball home after some sloppy defensive work from Bob Malcom.
Fourteen minutes later the Mariners doubled the advantage when John Hutchinson, just off the plane from playing with Malta in their World Cup qualifying loss to Portugal, showed he had too much pace for Malcom.
Hutchinson calmly waltzed through the Roar defence and fired in the second to leave Brisbane reeling.
Brisbane rallied and created some great opportunities, although Matt McKay couldn't finish off one wonderful chance with the goal at his mercy.
And twenty minutes from time, Central Coast made Brisbane pay as Pedj Bojic latched onto a poor pass in defence from Luke Devere and calmly stroked the ball home for a convincing win.
