The prize for Roar beating Philippines side Global FC is a spot in the ACL group stage featuring CSL side Shanghai Shenhua who are coached by Gus Poyet and include $118m dollar man Tevez.

Global earnt their place in tonight’s game after overcoming Singapore club Tampines Rovers last week and Petratos said he was eager to take on the Philippines underdogs.

I’m looking forward to it," he told FourFourTwo. “We obviously want to win that game so we can move on to the next round and play against a big team and play against Tevez. It would be a tough game of course but it would be a great experience for us so we are looking forward to the game.”

Global’s win over Tampines Rovers was the Phillipines first ever ACL win and Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi is taking the threat of the newcomers very seriously.

“It’s an important game for us,” he said. “Watching and analysing their last game they are a side that can break very well. They’ve got some quick players that love going forward. They are going to be well organised. It’s a big game for them. It’s a big occasion and we have to be ready for that and make sure we play to our structures and play our game and if we do that we are pretty positive that we will get the result.”

Brisbane Captain Matt McKay said that not being able to gain direct entry into the group stage was a letdown but he was confident Roar would qualify for the group stage.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t qualify directly to be honest,” he said. “We had that chance at the end of last season but moving on from that, it’s the biggest competition in Asia club football wise.  We’ve really enjoyed those trips a couple of seasons ago going down to China Korea and Japan.

"We did really well away from home it was a positive but at home we want to get the results we need to do to get into the (main) competition and we have to have good performances. The first one is Global and if we get past them that is great but we need a good performance and if we do that we will win.”
