Brisbane Rar have started their rebuild for next season with an audacious snatch of fringe Socceroo striker Adam Taggart from Perth Glory.
The 24-year-old won the golden boot award with Newcastle Jets in 2013/14 and has scored a career total of 39 A-League goals from 65 starts and 27 starts off the bench.
His displays for the Jets earned him a spot in Ange Postecoglou's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad, with Taggart starting the final group match against Spain.
Despite managing just 14 appearances with Perth Glory last season, Taggart was still the club's leading scorer with nine goals.
“I am delighted to be joining the three-time Champions, Brisbane Roar for the next two seasons,” Taggart said today.
"I’m ready to hit the ground running in pre-season and I’m excited for what the future holds.
“I cannot wait to start working with [coach] John [Aloisi] and the rest of the team as we push for a fourth Championship.
"It’ll be a special moment for me when I get to run out onto Suncorp Stadium for the first time in orange."
He comes in to replenish Roar after last month's exit of key attackers Massimo Maccarone (released) and Fahid Ben Khalfallah (retired).
“We are delighted to sign a young, talented, Australian striker who we know will suit our style of play and has the potential to be one of the leading strikers in the league next season," coach John Aloisi said.
“I’m sure our fans and the local football community will be looking forward to seeing Adam in action. We are building strong foundations and we believe Adam will play a significant part in our push for a fourth championship.”
