Nick Fitzgerald – 6.5

Continued his good form. Great strike early in the second half forcing a parried save from Jamie Young. Full of confidence at the moment and playing with a spring in his step. Went missing for periods of the game though.

Michael Jakobsen – 6.5

Had to drop back into defence when La Rocca was sacrificed at half-time. Gave away a lot of fouls even though he was probably forced into making a few due to City’s turnovers.

Osama Malik – 6

His distribution was quite good all night both short and long. Had a couple of opportunities to get on the scoresheet but just isn’t in his game.

Marcin Budzinksi – 5.5

Floated around up front and interchanged positions with Mauk. Instigated an all-in after a poor tackle on Jack Hingert and was shown a yellow card. Had a good chance late but couldn’t curl it around the outstretched hand of Jamie Young. Melbourne City need more from their Marquee man.

Stefan Mauk – 6.5

Was given a good chance by Nick Fitzgerald from a squared ball but blasted the chance into row Z. Guilty of another wasted opportunity before he saved a certain goal by clearing off the line, making up for one of his previous misses. Finally took advantage of the space he was getting into and finished well for City’s 54th minute goal.

Bruce Kamau – 4

Was largely anonymous in the first half and the Coach agreed, replacing him at half-time to try something different.

SUBS

Luke Brattan – 7

Came on at half-time and City instantly looked a better side. Chipped through for the assist of Mauk’s goal and put in a few beautiful looking crosses when City were pressing for a second.

Neil Kilkenny – 6.5

One of City’s two half-time substitutions. Another bit part role but Kilkenny did the best with his time, got involved a bit further up the field in a good period of play for the Visitors.

Braedyn Crowley – 6

Came on in the 76th minute after City went down 3-1 to try and help salvage a result. Not much involvement but the most minutes he has been given all year.
