BRISBANE ROAR

Brendan White - 8

Looks like a giant Macaulay Culkin. Left home alone when Brisbane defenders started dying like flies – but seeing him fly through the air was worth the match ticket alone.

Jack Hingert - N/A

Injured and subbed mid-way through the first half.

Stefan Nigro - 7

Great performance, very physical.

Luke De Vere - N/A

Injured and subbed after 12 minutes.

Jacob Pepper - 7

Rose to the occasion impressively, despite a few mistimed tackles, blocking passing lanes and crosses intelligently.

Álex López - 7

He was one of the few Brisbane players who played fairly consistently the entire night.

Henrique - 8

It’s no wonder Brisbane keep hold of him, he’s not only bursting with character but he can do pretty much anything. He plays great passes, holds the ball intelligently and still has a trick up his sleeve.

Matt McKay - 8

Moved into central defence and stood out among the backline.

Éric Bautheac - 6

Shocking crosses, looked tired, grumpy, disinterested. Couple of enticing moments.

Adam Taggart - 7

He always drifts in-and-out but he was a little more drowsy than usual in the passenger seat tonight, with his teammates' service largely to blame. Sprung to life in the latter half, playing a role in both goals.

Dylan Wenzel-Halls - 8

Impressive bursting runs, couldn’t quite influence things when he dropped deep, but more than compensated with a brilliant winner.

SUBS

Joe Caletti - 6

Few meh moments, but his work-rate is impressive.

Izaak Powell - 8

16-years-old and reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine’s lead singer - in height, appearance and gritty determination.

Tobias Mikkelsen - 7

He's starting to turn around his A-League form, with some great consecutive performances at Suncorp.

SYDNEY FC

Andrew Redmayne

Nutmegged himself trying to collect a corner and was slightly out of position for Brisbane's opening goal.

Rhyan Grant - 7

Fantastic battle on the wing: Suncorp would have sold more tickets for a Grant v Bautheac boxing match – Grant would have come out on top, but the Frenchman would have just about ripped his mullet off.

Michael Zullo - 6

Silky on the ball, great skills, but lacking a bit of fight when the game was taken to Sydney and often got caught too high up the pitch.

Alex Wilkinson - 6

Started really well but lost his head, unable to marshall his defence.

Ben Warland - 7

Superb judgement of the ball in flight, but lost his positioning with Wilkinson's slump.

Joshua Brillante - 5

Poor performance, packed with loose balls and sub-standard transition play.

Daniel De Silva - 6

His decision-making was slightly lacking all night: he knew he should be able to beat Powell, but he couldn’t. He did, however, take his goal excellently, with a level of composure that his teammates couldn't muster all night.

Brandon O'Neill - 6

Mistimed aggression, often choosing the wrong option.

Milos Ninkovic - 5

Missed an absolute sitter that came back to haunt his side and was generally off the pace.

Reza Ghoochannejhad - 6

Selfish at times and took the wrong option, still adjusting to the A-League.

Adam Le Fondre - 6

A few decent chances of his own creation, but offered little in the second half to stem Brisbane's dominance.

SUBS

Alex Brosque - 6

While he was involved physically, he made little impact on steadying Sydney's ship.

Anthony Caceres - N/A

A fairly anonymous return from injury.

Mitch Austin - N/A
