Brisbane Roar missed out on a chance to sneak into the top six after drawing 2-2 in Wellington. A Brett Holman stunner was cancelled out by debutant Logan Rogerson but Thomas Kristensen made sure Brisbane went home with a point.
Wellington Phoenix
Oliver Sail - 5
Only needed to make one save from Ben Khalfallah’s narrow attempt at goal at his near post. Much more busy in the second half with a number of routine saves until he failed to catch Khalfallah’s corner leading to Kristensen knocking into an empty net.
Scott Galloway - 5.5
Not too convincing with his positional play as Jack Hingert often made in roads at his expense on the right side. Going forward he pierced Brisbane’s left hand side making it past Daniel Bowles's left channel.
Andrew Durante - 6
Bright moments on the ball in the build up to some of Wellington’s promising attacks and was better defensively overall.
Dylan Fox - 5
Caught ball watching as Matt Mckay slipped in Ben Khalfallah, luckily the Tunisian’s shot was saved by Oliver Sail.
Liberato Cacace - 5
Going through the motions as the 17-year old returned to full-back duties after a 4-1 loss to the Wanderers where he was stationed in midfield. In two minds about going forward and defending.
Matija Lujic - 6
Wellington’s first opportunity at goal fell to Lujic as he opened up on his left foot but the curling shot fell into the arms of Jamie Young. A beautifully weighted ball in behind Brisbane’s back line allowed Kaludjerovic to finish a one-on-one with Jamie Young.
Monty Patterson - 5
Careless passing nearly opened Wellington up early in the match although he had a plethora of chances to put Wellington a goal up. Worked very hard din build up and created a fair amount of chances. Unfortunate to see him come off with injury.
Logan Rogerson - 6.5
Showed some fantastic bursts of pace to get into dangerous positions for Wellington as well as winning numerous corners.
Nathan Burns - 6
Rattled the side netting in the second half and assisted Rogerson’s header to put Wellington a goal ahead briefly. His 12th match back in Wellington and he is still scoreless.
Andrija Kaludjerovic - 6.5
A run from halfway to the byline almost brought about the opener if it weren’t for Ivan Franjic’s last second tackle. The Serb broke his drought of nine games without a goal as he equalised moments after Brisbane took the lead.
Substitutes
Adam Parkhouse - 5
Didn’t do enough to give Wellington an edge after coming on for Patterson in the first half.
Roy Krishna - N/A
Surprisingly effective defensively however he didn’t get a chance to make an impact in the final third.
Brisbane Roar
Jamie Young - 7
A clinical save from Kaludjerovic’s powerful shot in the first half was his first involvement in the match however he couldn’t do anything about the on-on-one with the Serbian. Got fingertips to tap Burns’s roaring shot onto the crossbar.
Jack Hingert - 6.5
A massive danger down the right for Brisbane whipping in multiple crosses the entire match as well as more often than not beating Galloway on the dribble.
Jacob Pepper - 5.5
Poor communication with him and his defensive partner Daniel Bowles as Kaludjerovic slipped in between both of them to equalise.
Daniel Bowles - 5
Some sloppy turnovers and positioning had Bowles walking the tightrope at moments in the match.
Ivan Franjic - 5.5
A crucial last minute slide tackle to deny a clear cut chance in the box for Monty Patterson saved Roar’s blushes. Caught unawares as Rogerson got into a goalscoring position ahead of him.
Thomas Kristensen - 6.5
Some defence splitting passes in the first half gave Wellington more to fear than his usual break up of play. Scored the second and Brisbane’s equaliser from a corner.
Matt McKay - 6
Passing game was on point, holding possession as well as threading the needle on a few occasions. His partnership with Kristensen is a godsend for Aloisi and Brisbane.
Brett Holman - 7
A spectacular first time volley to put Brisbane a goal to the good. Afforded a lot of space outside the Wellington area as he threatened from long range however his passing power and range wavered.
Eric Bautheac - 5.5
Didn’t have the impact many hoped he would creating only a few half chances in the match. Many overhit passes and poor decision making.
Massimo Maccarone - 6
Had hardly any service in the first half amongst a half chance wasted after an overhit pass by Brett Holman. Assisted Brett Holman for his brilliant volley to take the lead.
Fahid Ben Khalfallah - 5.5
Very quiet for Brisbane. I believe he’s struggling to find space to be truly effective amongst the creative freedom given to Eric Bautheac. Botched a golden opportunity to take all three points missing a clear cut chance in the box.

Henrique - 5
Not much of an impact for Brisbane
