Zullo had been wanted by Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen but although anxious for overseas football at some stage, decided now was not the time to turn his back on his home town club.

Football Federation Australia stepped in recently to take temporary ownership of the club but Zullo said all the upheaval hadn't caused him undue stress.

He told the Courier Mail: "When I decided to stay I was aware there were some issues there, but I wasn't aware of the extent of it," he said.

"But to be honest, it really wouldn't have changed my decision."

Zullo is busy preparing for the new season with the now Brisbane Roar. The club will play a number of warm up games this month with the likes of Brisbane City, Peninsula United and Redlands United all lined up to test Roar.
