Veteran Brisbane Roar star Thomas Broich has admitted his playing days may be numbered... and he's ready to share his workload with team-mate Tommy Oar.
Broich has been a revelation since he first arrived in the A-League in 2010 and made an enormous impact under former coach, Ange Postecoglou.
The German was pivotal in Roar's attack and was key to their unbeaten run of 36 games which made Australian history – only ending when Broich missed a game.
But the Johnny Warren Medal winner and foreign player of the year is now 35 and his current contract expires at the end of the year.
In the new issue of FourFourTwo, on sale now, he tells the magazine he's preparing to hand on the baton – and admits he may not play as much as he once might have done this season.
"That's a tough one," he tell FourFourTwo in the bumper A-League preview special. "At the moment I'm travelling alright but when you get older, you never know – it could change at any time.
"I don't expect to start every game."
He adds: "I think it's a bit of a transition happening at the club already. We bring players like Tommy Oar for a reason.
"You don't want him benched for the entire season so I can get another 27 games. I'm happy to do a bit of job-sharing.
"It's not about playing every minute, it's about getting quality minutes."
The interview with Broich is part of FourFourTwo's preview special, with every team's tactics analysed, strengths and weaknesses pulled apart and managers under scrutiny.
We also talk to the big name stars from every club, we talent spot ten young players who deserve an A-League contract, and more who should come home to the A-League from overseas.
Plus we reveal the 20 things that will keep you glued to the games this season, and the 20 ways our panel of experts from around the game can fix the A-League for the better.
We also find out where to next for fan power after last season's name and shame disgrace and the boycott that brought a u-turn from the FFA.
All this and much much more in the new issue on sale in newsagents now or delivered to your door (before anyone else if you are a subscriber), and online AT CUT PRICE from iTunes, plus Google Play and Zinio too!
