ALEX Brosque will replace injured Scott McDonald in the Socceroos squad for Australia’s opening 2014 World Cup Qualifiers against Thailand and Saudi Arabia next month.
McDonald has succumbed to a hamstring strain and after consultation with Scott, his club staff at Middlesbrough and Socceroos medics, coach Holger Osieck decided against making the striker travel.
McDonald was released h from national team duties to continue his injury treatment in the UK instead.
Brosque’s inclusion brings the number of former Brisbane/Queensland Roar players in the current Socceroossquad to seven.
