The former Sydney FC striker pounced on an error by Nagoya goalkeeper Seigo Narazaki to score on 18 minutes.

Narazaki fluffed his clearance straight to Shimizu striker Genki Omae who shot straight at the stopper, only for the rebound to fall kindly to Brosque and he turned it home.

The goal came after Nagoya had taken an eighth-minute lead through Keiji Tamada.

Brosque and fellow Aussie Eddy Bosnar both played full games in the draw, while Nagoya's Joshua Kennedy was absent due to injury.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Socceroo Shane Lowry was sent off in relegated Sheffield United's 4-0 loss at Swansea City in England's Championship.

Lowry was dismissed for handball on the goalline.

Meanwhile, Socceroo Patrick Kisnorbo made his first appearance for Leeds in 13 months in their 2-1 win at QPR.

Kisnorbo, who has battled an Achilles injury, was a 79th-minute substitute.

In Scotland's Premier League, Ryan McGowan made his starting debut in defence for Hearts but he copped a booking as they lost 4-0 at Rangers.
