The Socceroos have a crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia in Adelaide followed by a friendly against Brazil before the Confederations Cup in June.

Centre back Alex Wilkinson and left back Michael Zullo came from Melbourne City to join the Sky Blues for their 2016/17 record-breaking season.

Both played an integral role as Sydney romped home with the Premiers Plate after conceding just 13 goals in the entire season.

Former Socceroo Brosque feels the duo have plenty to offer the Green and Gold along with midfielders Josh Brillante and Brandon O'Neill. Sydney goalkeeper Danny Vukovic and right back Rhyan Grant made the last call-up.

“If (Ange) is looking for some experienced heads, some boys to guide and lead then Wilks and Zulls can definitely do a job,” Brosque said.

“They can definitely help and add experience to that team. Vuka and Rhyan are already there and rightly so.

“There’s a couple of others who could probably be there, some young boys coming through our squad who have been fantastic, Joshy and Branno.”

Zullo has not featured for Australia since February 2013 and despite Wilkinson being called up early last year, he hasn’t played since November 2015.

Wilkinson said it wasn’t up to him, but felt there could be an influence of Sky Blue in the upcoming fixtures.

“There’s a couple of games coming up, if anyone can get into the squad that’d be great,” the defender said.

“We’ve seen Vuka and Rhyan get into the last camp which is fantastic so as long as we’ve got some representatives in there it’d be good for the club.”

Wilkinson also reflected on finally winning the Championship after heartbreak with the Central Coast Mariners in 2006, 2008 and 2011.

Sydney defeated Melbourne Victory on penalties in the Grand Final - the defender relieved his missed effort in the shootout on Sunday didn't prove decisive. The Sky Blues went on to win 4-2 from the spot after the sides were deadlocked 1-1 at the end of extra time..

“It’s special because we’ve got such a great group of boys here and everyone’s such good mates,” Wilkinson said.

“Where I was in Asia (K-League Jeonbuk Motors and CSL Jiangsu Suning), you’re not that close to all the players because of the language barrier and whatnot.

“Here you have 23 brothers out there and it makes it more special when you can win things together.”
