Brosque joins colleague Clint Bolton in the squad for the game at the MCG on September 11 and he cannot wait.

Although he has played against some of the visitors’ star players before in the green and gold of his country, Brosque is looking forward to the challenge posed by a full international.

Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com, he said: “I found out I’d been included when I came in to training. George Perry (Sydney FC chief executive) came in and gave me the sheet. Obviously I’m delighted with it.”

While Bolton has not paid too much attention to the fixture, at least up to this point, Brosque was doing his homework before the call even came through today.

He said: “I had a look the other day at the squad they’re bringing out. Just to be lining up alongside them would be awesome, something to remember forever.

“Just to be on the same pitch with the likes of Messi and Tevez is just unbelievable. You watch these guys week in and week out. They’re brilliant players.”

However, Brosque said his thoughts had been focused on performing well for his club rather than waiting for his country to come calling again.

He said: “Having a better season is more in my thinking than getting back in the national team.

"Obviously it’s a good thing to be a part of but I needed to get my season back on track and worry about performing for Sydney before I worried about getting back in the national team.”

Goals win games and Brosque knows he is one of those expected to deliver for the club this year.

Brank Culina has added to his attacking options by bringing in Brazilian, Patrick and Brosque is encouraged by what he sees.

He said: “He’s starting to show that he’s going to be decent up front as well.

"We had a trial match the other night and he looks good, a lively Brazilian, a bit like Reinaldo.

"Good in the air, good with his feet, a typical Brazilian I guess you could say."

He added: "Hopefully he can get some game time on the weekend and just show everyone what he’s here for.

“The boys in midfield will be feeding us so I guess it’s up to us to put them away and make us and themselves look good.”

And Brosque himself is happy to accept that his Sydney teammates and the supporters will be expecting him to find the net this year.

He accepts it comes with the territory when you’re a striker. It wasn’t quite the same last year on the occasions where he was utilised as a wide boy. Now there's pressure to score.

“More so this season I think," he said.

"Last season I was more wing and midfield but now I’ve been pushed back up front where I enjoy playing, the pressure’s sort of come back on but I enjoy that.

"I enjoy being relied upon to score some goals. I think it tends to get the best out of players when the pressure’s on."

He added: "Hopefully I can bang in a few goals and just ease the pressure off the boys.”
