The Sky Blues created chances throughout the contest but were unable to find the edge in the must-win contest at the venue where rugby league and rugby union has been played in recent weeks.

"The pitch doesn't help when you're trying to play football," Brosque told Fox Sports.

"A pitch like this where it definitely doesn't help, you've got guys like (Milos) Ninkovic and Adrian (Mierzejewski) who are quality players who are needing to take two-three-four touches to get it under control.

"It ruins the spectacle to be honest and it ruins what we're trying to do.

"We still had alot of opportunities but it just didn't fall for us."

Sydney had headed into the 2018 ACL with hopes of going far, but failed to get beyond the group stage.

"It's disappointing because at the beginning of the tournament we wanted to progress and do well in it, we thought we could," Brosque said.

"Up until tonight we still gave ourselves a chance. Looking back, obviously our home form wasnt good enough which is strange for us.

"We needed to be a lot stronger at home and get some points here to be a chance. One point from three games isn't good enough."
