EXCLUSIVE: Socceroo Alex Brosque has touched down in Sydney but he's still on a high after getting up close to his Argentine heroes.
“Some of the Euro boys for them it was just another game, but for me definitely I was starstruck!” he told au.fourfourtwo.com.
“I'm a big fan of Messi playing for Barca and Tevez at Man Utd, you watch them play on TV and then you're on the same pitch as them.
"Week in, week out, Lucas Neil and some of the others are mixing it with the best. To them, playing Argentina is just another team to them."
But he added: "For me, it was just unbelievable doing the warm-up on the same pitch and having a joke with them."
The Sydney FC striker didn't get a run in the game although Nick Mrdja of the Mariners made his debut in the 1-0 loss to the world ranked two nation.
“The Socceroos can hold their heads up high,” added Brosque. “In the past couple of years we've begun to play a new style of football. And we don't fear anyone.
“Messi just pops out of nowhere and he so sharp and hard to get the ball off them.
“But we did well, and it easily could've gone the other way. There are good signs.”
Brosque said that although Graham Arnold did not reveal to much in the dressing room after the game “...he did say that if this was the match to go out on, he was happy to go out against such a good side."
As for Brosque, he's hoping the added confidence he's got from his call up will translate into more goals after his excellent first of the season against Adelaide United in round two of the A-League.
“We've got Phoenix this Friday night, and I know what I need to do to get into the Socceroo starting XI. I've gotta perform well at club level and that's how you're going to get picked.”
With Juninho a possible shock inclusion in tomorrow night's lineup, Brosque says he's hoping to add to his tally against the New Zealand franchise in a game that Sydney must win to reignite its season.
