EXCLUSIVE: Alex Brosque is dreaming of green and gold in a far away land as the Sydney FC striker bids to force his way into Pim Verbeek's thinking.
Brosque enjoyed a tremendous pre-season in front of goal for Vitezslav Lavicka's side and he's now looking to build on a first class warm up.
With the likes of Jason Culina, Mile Sterjovski and Chris Coyne all playing A-League football, home-based players are set to force their way onto the plane to South Africa next year - and Brosque hopes he could be one of those who catches Verbeek's eye.
He's aiming to prove his consistency by scoring goals on a regular basis throughout the season without any fallow patches.
"First and foremost the aim is to look to play every game and do well. That's my main goal," Brosque told au.fourfourtwo.com. "If you're scoring goals that's where bigger and better things happen.
"I have to concentrate on performing consistently every week for my club.
"Going to South Africa would be an absolute dream and hopefully a dream that can come true. But there's a lot of hard work and time in between to make that happen."
Brosque is delighted to see the return of several current Socceroos which can only strengthen the case for the selection of A-League players.
"Culina, Sterjovski and the others have come back in their prime," he said. "It shows now that there is a chance there to be looked at. Those guys coming back really helps us."
Brosque hopes to get his goalscoring campaign off the mark when Sydney take on Adelaide United at SFS this weekend.
And as he looks to make that South African dream come a little closer, he believes he has further improvement to show.
He added: "I know within myself I can do a lot better. I don't want to start well and die off or start slowly and then come good.
"Until that happens, I can't say I'll be totally happy. That's when I can say I've got the best out of myself."
