Melbourne Victory utility Leigh Broxham is unperturbed by Sydney FC’s boldness in declaring a want to cruise through the season undefeated.
The Sky Blues have just one loss to their name in all competitions which came in the FFA Cup Final 1-0 loss to Melbourne City in November.
The highly anticipated Big Blue clash on Australia Day could decide who wins the 2017 Minor Premiership as Sydney fly high on top of the table.
Sydney are currently eight points clear and with second-placed Victory losing their past two games, Broxham knows his side need three points to shorten the gap between the two clubs.
The Victory veteran said he was only interested in doing the talking on the pitch.
“I think they’ve (Sydney) been saying things like that (about finishing undefeated) for a few weeks now. It’s something I’m not interested in,” Broxham said.
“If that’s how they want to talk, then that’s how they want to talk. But it’s for them to do and to back up, we’ll do our business the way we always do it and we’ll see at the end of 90 minutes on Thursday night.
“We’ll look at them today and assess what we have to, it’s an important game in terms of closing the gap.
“They deserve to be where they are, got the points on the board and it’s up to us to close the gap on them and it starts on Thursday.”
Should Broxham partake in Thursday night’s game, he will surpass Victory legend Archie Thompson, who has played the most A-League games for the club on 224, as the club's most capped player.
The small midfielder said he didn't want to think about the record until after the game.

He said he had his own ideas to get Victory back to their winning ways and denied any claims of a form slump.
“Wellington (3-0) we were disappointed, we didn’t perform to the level we wanted to. In Perth (2-1) we had a lot of chances and the performance was generally good,” he said.
“A few things we could have done better, fairly happy with results so it’s not a form slump. I think we’re happy where we are.
“We have another game, we win on Thursday and everything is forgotten isn’t it?... This game has come around pretty quick, I think physically, it’s always a physical game.
“It’s hard to perform so quickly but that’s what we’re paid to do. Mentally as well, you play for a good club, we’ve got good players around you and if your job is to get up for a game every four days, it’s not a hard gig.
“It’s where you have to be concentrated physically and mentally get through something to get a result.”
