Despite widespread support for a third eye, Bruce claims the FIFA president is dead against against the introduction of the technique.

Bruce was incensed defender Emmerson Boyce was sent off by referee Andre Marriner in the 2-2 draw after picking up a second booking.

TV replays clearly showed it was a fair challenge on Shola Ameobi. Despite the club's protest, Boyce will now sit out the home match against Everton on Monday.

Bruce said: "Why can't a referee go to the fourth official after giving a second yellow card and say 'Have I got this right?'

"Then the fourth official could look on the replay. It would take a few seconds - the time it took for Emmerson to go off the pitch. When something happens like this happens you feel robbed or cheated.

"The Premier League want to bring technology in and have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on technology to make sure it works.

"I think there is only one man, the president of FIFA, who for some reason does not want that to happen.

"Yet we see it in rugby, we see it in cricket, we even seen it now in tennis.

"It becomes part of the entertainment for the crowd. It has to come in, the quicker the better."

Marriner is not on the Premier League list this weekend and Bruce added: "I am all for giving the referees a hand rather than him admitting to making a mistake.

"I thank him for that. He is stood down for this weekend - but I am not so sure about that either."

Bruce believes there is little room for error in the top flight this season with more than half the teams bunched up.

He said: "I have been lucky enough to have been around the Premier League for the last six or seven years and there is usually one or two adrift at this stage of the season.

"But it is quite incredible that 14 clubs are looking over their shoulder. That shows the competition is fair and there is everything to play for."

Emile Heskey (hamstring), Amr Zaki (rib and calf), Mario Melchiot (knee) and Jason Koumas (groin) are all doubtful for the match against Everton through injury.
