adidas have managed to ‘wow’ Arsenal fans yet again with the release of the club’s new away kit – modelled on the Gunners’ 'bruised banana’ jersey from the early 90s.

Having won fans over with the release of the 2019/20 home kit already, adidas have managed to replicate their success with the unveiling of the club’s new yellow-bodied away shirt.

The German sportswear brand have reinterpreted Arsenal’s now iconic ‘bruised banana’ look by utilising a pattern of repeating, diagonal, slightly-darker yellow chevrons, whilst the round-neck jersey also incorporates adidas’ famous 3-stripe motif on each shoulder, and is complimented by navy shorts and yellow socks.

In the build-up to their pre-season friendly against Colorado Rapids, the club orchestrated a clever tease of the away strip on their official Twitter account, posting photos of a special iteration of the home kit which actually incorporated the chevron pattern into the player names and numbers on the back of the shirt.

Much like the home kit, however, there had already been plenty of leaked images making their way around the internet, with All-Star basketballer James Harden (Houston Rockets) and hugely popular Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh modelling the strip online.

With the club headed towards a season where its supporters will accept nothing less than a top-4 finish and subsequent Champions League qualification, Gunners fans can at least take some satisfaction from the two stunning jerseys that adidas have produced this year.
