EXCLUSIVE: Ben Buckley says the dust is settling on a 'wonderful five weeks' for Australian football but stresses the game cannot afford to rest on its laurels.
Super June officially ends today with numerous events for the Socceroos, Olyroos and Matildas having been squeezed into a packed month.
Football's governing body is delighted with how events unfolded but stress the focus is now forwards not back.
Buckley told au.fourfourtwo.com: "I don't think in the history of the game in Australia has there been a more hectic period.
"We've had the FIFA Congress, the Ghana friendly, we've been to Dubai and Doha, the Women's Asian Championships, the Peace Cup. There's been so many big games.
"You put all that together and it's been a big five weeks. But what a wonderful five weeks.
"Football has been in the headlines constantly. We've had some outstanding performances, some that didn't quite meet the benchmark.
"For the Socceroos we are through to the next phase of World Cup qualifiers and when we set out on this process, that was the initial goal.
"Now we have to regroup and look forward to the next set of challenges that lie ahead for us."
Buckley and his colleagues are now busy trying to confirm venues for the next phase of World Cup qualifiers that begin in September.
