EXCLUSIVE: Scott Bulloch is well aware of Perth Glory's proud history but says it is time for new heroes to step up and pen a fresh chapter of success.
Much has been said and written about the club's glory days but the A-League has lacked happy memories for Perth until this season.
However, with a first finals spot secured Bulloch is looking forward to playing his part in helping bring fresh success to the Western Australian outfit.
"I'm a Perth boy, have grown up watching Perth Glory, everyone talks about the glory days but the A-League so far has been disappointing," the 24-year-old told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"I think it's massive for Perth, also Wellington, to be in the finals. Obviously people are talking about Sydney and Melbourne as favourites but the rest of us are just as determined.
"As a player, it's about timing your run and hopefully my goal the other week helps put me in the mix for a spot. It's about taking your chance and hopefully we can go to Wellington and someone will be the Perth Glory hero on the day."
A gruelling trek to New Zealand isa harsh preparation for such a big game and Glory's away record has been disappointing this year.
"We'll go in with the underdogs tag but that's okay," said Bulloch. "The finals series is a fresh start in a sense. We're getting influential players back at the right time and on paper we're as good as anyone else."
Bulloch has been impressed with several of Wellington's performers in recent weeks and feels the battle between Glory's big striker and the Phoenix central defensive partnership could be key...as well as keeping Paul Ifill quiet.
"I watched Wellington beat Central Coast Mariners last week and Ifill was outstanding. He has been all season," added Bulloch. "They're dangerous down the wings but we have enough players to cause them problems.
"Jon McKain and Andrew Durante have been very strong for them at the back but I think Daniel McBreen will be out to cause all sorts of problems."
