EXCLUSIVE: Former Adelaide United star Nathan Burns is due to fly into Australia with AEK Athens for the Sydney Festival of Football tournament starting on July 25, say the Aussie striker's reps.
Socceroo Burns remains contracted with AEK for two more seasons after signing in mid-2008 following his switch from Hindmarsh.
However, after a season on the periphery with the Athens club, the 23-year-old forward was last season loaned out to second division side Corfu.
It proved a success for both club and player with Corfu gaining promotion, Burns playing regularly and scoring nine times for the island club.
The country NSW-born striker appears to be back in the AEK fold with the Greek side beginning pre-season training this week under the eye of coach Dusan Bajevic.
The Festival of Football tournament features Sydney FC, Blackburn Rovers, Glasgow Rangers and the Greeks. It will be the first time Burns, capped twice for his country, will have played in Australia since his move overseas.
