Burns, who has been a regular for AEK this term, did not play in the second-leg semi-final win which completed a 1-0 aggregate victory for the Athenians.

AEK will be hot favourites when they face Atromitos in the final to be played late next month at Athens' Olympic Stadium.

The Athens outfit, traditionally one of Greece's strongest clubs, have not won a major trophy since 2002.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Aaron Mooy missed out on a dream semi-final date against Celtic at Hampden Park after St Mirren lost their Scottish Cup quarter-final 2-1 to Aberdeen on Wednesday.

Mooy, who joined the Buddies in October after leaving Bolton in the European summer, was a 66th minute substitute in the defeat.

Elsewhere, Tolgay Ozbey scored for Indian club East Bengal as they lost 4-1 at Indonesian outfit Persipura in the AFC Cup.
