Victory showed plenty of grit in their AFC Champions League opener, each time firing in an equaliser within moments of going behind.

But the ease with which goals were scored and conceded in the Group F encounter will leave the defences of both teams blanching.

Not for the first time Leroy George proved the difference for Victory, scoring a crucial brace and chipping in with an assist for Rhys Williams to bring Victory back from the death each time.

"I think we were the better team today and created the better chances but we cannot fiinish the game and get the three points," George told Fox Sports.

Coach Kevin Muscat was upbeat post match, despite Victory failing to deal with two set pieces.

"To chase down three leads was an outstanding effort and at the end there we were still pushing," Muscat said post-match.

"We created some chances at the death there...but it was the reaction from the players when we conceded goals that was outstanding tonight.

"I'm pleased for them but we would have liked the extra two points.

The Victory boss said the team would "collectively" take resonsibility for the defensive lapses: "We won't hang anyone out to dry.

"But I think the reaction from the rest of the group when we made some mistakes tonight was absolutely first class."

Meanwhile Ulsan, still in preseason, will wonder how they scored three times away from home without getting all three points.

Croatian, Mislav Orsic, who opened the scoring for the visitors before sealing a  brace was happy to leave with a point with the help of Austrian teammate, Richard Windbichler

"Okay three times we were leading so we are a little bit sad because we no win," Orsic told Fox Sports.

"But it was a good game and we are happy with one point away and we will see what will happen iin future games."
