NEWCASTLE Jets have continued to rebuild and bolstered their squad for the 2011/12 A-League season with the signing of former Sydney FC defender Byun Sung-Hwan.
The former Korean international, who was released by the Sky Blues at the end of last season, has joined the Jets on a one-year deal.
Byun joins Socceroo midfielder Jason Culina as new additions to the Jets squad, which missed out on a finals berth last season.
"We are please that Sung-Hwan has agreed to join us for next season," Jets boss Branko Culina said.
"We believe that he has a lot of potential will be a handy player for us."
