Cahill, who will be a key man for Australia at the World Cup later this year, scored either side of half-time for Everton, on both occasions in trademark style with his head from set-pieces.

"He is a real threat in the box," Moyes told BBC Sport. "He got them tonight from two set-pieces which was well worked by Tim getting on the end of the crosses."

Asked if he'd seen a player who times his leaps for headers better than Cahill, Moyes added: "I can't think of one off the top of my head.

"As well as timing, you need to be brave and you've got to know where the ball is going to be at the right point and at the right moment.

"That's what Tim does and that's why he's got his goals. They were two good goals tonight."
