Socceroo legend Tim Cahill seems a long shot for the World Cup qualifying play-offs with Honduras.
Cahill underwent an X-ray on Friday night and an MRI scan on Saturday morning to determine the extent of an injury sustained to his right ankle during the top of the table clash with Sydney FC at AAMI Park.
The 37-year-old started his first game of the season but lasted just 25 minutes after rolling his ankle in a clumsy challenge.
City released a statement tonight saying, "while no fracture was identified, monitoring and rehabilitation will be required to manage Cahill back to full fitness.
"The Socceroos’ medical and coaching staff will determine Cahill’s eligibility for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Play-off (CONCACAF-Asian Zone) against Honduras.
"A further update regarding Cahill will be provided by FFA on Sunday."

Kruse injury doubts linger
The Socceroos are due to fly out for the away leg tomorrow. Ange Postecoglou's men play Honduras on November 11 before the return leg on November 15.
Sydney coach Graham Arnold said he was surprised that Cahill started the match but City boss Warren Joyce said the attacker was "desperate to play".
