Neil Eardley had put the Tangerines ahead before Cahill equalised on 13 minutes with a typically powerful close-range header for the Toffees from Yakubu Aiyegbeni's cross.

David Vaughan scored early in the second stanza, but Everton's Seamus Coleman levelled two minutes later.

Cahill and Everton had a number of chances throughout the contest, but couldn't find a winner and were left to settle for a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, fellow Socceroo David Carney was an unused sub for the Tangerines.

Elsewhere, Brett Emerton continued his decent form for Blackburn providing the assist for Jason Roberts' winner in their 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic.

Emerton, who played a full game, was busy on the right-side of midfield throughout the contest for Rovers who claimed a much-needed win. Vince Grella was not involved.

After the game, Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce reserved praise for Emerton's involvement in Roberts' decisive goal.

"It was a great run from Brett Emerton," Allardyce said. "The final ball was outstanding, it cut the Wigan defence open, Jason Roberts popped up and side-footed it in off the post."

Meanwhile, Mark Schwarzer played a full game as Fulham scored in the stoppage-time to rescue a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

In England's Championship, Scott McDonald played a full game but went goalless again as Middlesbrough claimed a much-needed 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Crystal Palace.

In Russia's Premier League, Socceroo Luke Wilkshire played a full game as Dinamo Moscow drew 1-1 at FK Rostov.

With three games to play in the Russian season, Dinamo are seventh and appear out of the race for Europe.

In Germany's Bundesliga, Dario Vidosic was not in the FC Nurnberg squad which defeated FC Koln 3-1 to move up into equal sixth on the table.

In Scotland's Premier League, Danny Invincibile came off the bench as a 86th minute substitute to set up Kilmarnock's third goal in their 3-0 win at St Johnstone.

Over to Asia, in China's Super League, Joel Griffiths scored the winner for Beijing Guoan as they defeated Jiangsu Sainty 1-0 on the final day of the season but it wasn't enough to help the capital club qualify for next season's AFC Champions League.

Griffiths, who played a full game while his brother Ryan watched from the stands, scored the game's only goal on 71 minutes with a cool finish.

Elsewhere, Adam Griffiths' Hangzhou Greentown qualify for the 2011 ACL after a 1-0 victory at Qingdao Jonoon clinched a top four finish. Griffiths played a full game.

Meanwhile, Chris Coyne started and played 78 minutes as Liaoning Whowin drew 4-4 at Shenzhen Ruby.
