Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood hailed his greatest achievement and a memorable week for Scottish football after the Dons knocked Dnipro out of the UEFA Cup.
Darren Mackie's first-half diving header gave them the away goal that carried them into the group stages with a 1-1 draw in Ukraine.
Dnipro levelled when a clearance cannoned off Andriy Vorobey and into the net with 15 minutes left and the Dons survived a late onslaught with Dnipro hitting the bar three times in the second period.
The triumph over a side sitting second in the Ukrainian league came in the week Rangers beat French champions Lyon and Celtic conquered holders AC Milan in the Champions League.
And Calderwood was delighted to continue the run with the first-round victory over a team brimming with Ukraine internationals.
He said: "I took Dunfermline to the Scottish Cup final and into Europe and then Aberdeen into Europe.
"But winning against a team of this quality is definitely the biggest achievement of my career.
"In the group I don't think we will face two or three teams as good as Dnipro. Maybe one but there won't be may as good as this team.
"It's a great result for Scottish football and a great result for us.
"Our coefficient will be going up and maybe we might get another team in the UEFA Cup.
"Five out of the league wouldn't be too bad."
On a night when a solid team performance kept Dnipro at bay until they cranked up the pressure in the last hal hour, Calderwood found praise for two heroes in particular.
Mackie grabbed his first goal of the season - and 50th for Aberdeen - in his first start since August following a hamstring problem.
And goalkeeper Jamie Langfield produced a string of great saves starting with an early strike from Dmytro L'opa.
Langfield only returrned to the team for the goalless first leg after an incident on his stag night in May saw him lose the number one jersey.
"We brought him back amd it wasn't an easy decision," Calderwood said. "But it is great for us and great for Jamie and, you never know, I might even buy him a pint.
"Our goalkeeper made a great save after three minutes, the game-plan could have gone out the window. But we got the goal we believed we could get.
"I brought Darren back, he has been out for a few weeks, but he is our top scorer in the last few years. He was ideal for the system we wanted to play."
