The 22-year-old  has been loaned to the Canaries from Fulham for the rest of the season and despite a lack of game time, he's ready to hit the ground running.

Leijer told the Geelong Advertiser: "I'll be doing all that I can to have an impact at Norwich for the rest of the season. I'm itching to get out there and get some really good game time, which is what I haven't had for a while."

A nagging knee problem hasn't helped his attempts to break into the Fulham first team since he returned from the Olympics in August but he says it's no longer an issue.

He said: "It's just a management thing and I'll get it looked at during the off-season. I'm quite fit and I've been working hard at Fulham, doing a lot of extra work to make sure I was fit and ready when I got my opportunity."

Leijer should also have taken heart from reports that he was a wanted man before joining Norwich, with several other clubs having been keen to secure his services on loan.
