CANBERRA has begun its push for an A-League franchise but Capital Football officials are confident the city will boast its own team in the inaugural women's league when it kicks off in October.
Representatives from Capital Football have met with Football Federation Australia officials to push the case for a team in the ACT.
Capital Football CEO Heather Reid said: "We’re very positive that our bid for inclusion into the new league will be accepted after some encouraging discussions with the FFA."
Officials are hoping Canberra's club will feature the likes of local current Matildas and Young Matildas, Caitlin Munoz, Lydia Williams, Amy Chapman and Grace Gill.
