FORMER Joeys defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff looks set to stay in England and sign a new contract with League Two club Shrewsbury Town.
The 27-year-old Sydney-born defender, who was part of the Joeys side which where runners-up at the under-17's World Championship in 1999, has spent over a decade abroad since leaving New South Wales as a teenager.
Cansdell-Sherriff, who has been at Shrewsbury since 2008 following spells earlier in his career with Leeds United, Tranmere and Danish club AGF Aarhus, recently came out of contract but says he's 'likely' to re-sign with the Shrews who finished 12th in England's fourth tier in the 2009/2010 season.
"I have just got back from holiday so hopefully the contract situation will be a bit clearer by the end of the week," Cansdell-Sherriff told the Shropshire Star.
"I don't like to rush these things and I have still got time to sign it. At this stage, it's most likely that I will sign."
He added: "I'm not sure when an announcement is due on a new manager but I would like to wait until after that before committing."
