Fabio Capello believes England have "got the balance right" to prove a match for the best teams in the world.
Capello was expected to adopt a cautious approach when he was appointed as Steve McClaren's successor 18 month sago.
Instead England have been free-scoring in their World Cup qualifiers but also proved difficult to break down in winning their opening five group games.
Now victories over Kazakhstan in Almaty this evening and against Andorra at Wembley on Wednesday will virtually gaurantee a place in the 2010 finals in South Africa.
Capello said: "You have to decide how to play depending on the style of players you have.
"I have seen a lot of games in the Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premier League and watched a lot of games in Spain, Italy and Germany.
"I think the level of football in England is very high and the players are very good players.
"I think you can score if you have good players. Without good players, you can prepare everything but it is more difficult to score.
"For this reason, I think we can play against all the best teams in the world.
"The mentality of England is to go forward. I have maintained this mentality and improved this mentality - but with good organisation in midfield and also the defending.
"I think we have found a balance on the pitch. This is very important."
Capello has reiterated his faith in England's back-up defenders Matthew Upson and Joleon Lescott in the absence again of the injured Rio Ferdinand.
He said: "I am happy about the defence because we have no problem. When we have played Lescott or Upson they have played very well.
"It was the same with (Phil) Jagielka. There are no problems with the centre-back position. I have big confidence in my team and no problem to play against all the teams in the world."
Capello also stressed that Ledley King's off the field headlines would not count against him and that any player would be forgiven a single misdemenaour - but not if they occured on a regular basis.
He said: "Has King been left out this time because of matters off the pitch? No.
"All the players can make one mistake. But if the mistake is every week, every month, it is different."
Capello will try and ensure England do not slip up in the next two games and wants his players to come flying out of the blocks against Kazakhstan froom the first whistle.
He said: "These two games are very important. People think tomorrow is an easy game. It will not be an easy game.
"I hope the players will play with confidence, like a group, like in all the games."
