Socceroos defender Milos Degenek has been celebrated by the Serbian media after his performance in Red Star Belgrade's 3-1 Champions League win overnight.
Red Star scored two late set piece goals to snatch a Champions League win from under the noses of their visitors Olympiacos.
Degenek couldn't help his side to a clean sheet but the 25-year old halted a number of chances for their opponents.
He made 51 successful passes, five clearances and won three aerial duels as Red Star bounced back from a 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich on match day one.
His exploits against Olympiacos saw him rated as one of the best performers in the Serbian media.
Darjan Neljkovic from Mozzart Sport gave Degenek a seven out of ten, one of the highest rated on the field as well as hailing him a "captain without the armband," and the "leader of the defensive order."
Neljkovic celebrated Degenek as the replacement for Red Star's now departed stalwart centre-back Nenad Krstičić.
Degenek has scored in both of Red Star's final Champions League qualifying matches in the last two seasons.
