Carle was signed to Palace for £1 million from Bristol City by manager Neil Warnock and although he shone in his first weeks, he's since failed to live up to his early promise.

He 's no longer a first team regular and with a shake-up planned for Palace at the end of the season, Carle could be on his way out of the door during the northern hemisphere summer.

Now he admits he's failed to deliver - but insists it's not for want of trying.

"The season hasn't gone how I would have liked - I would liked to have scored a few more goals," he told the Croydon Advertiser.

"That's a major part I've got to work on. Four goals isn't good enough. When you set yourself some targets on a personal level and don't reach them it's disappointing."

He added: "I put myself under pressure to perform. I don't think there's a player that doesn't. I've come here, worked hard on and off the pitch to make sure I'm ready.

"Whatever happens in the summer is up to the gaffer. My job is to work as hard as I can for the manager, team mates and the club."

The Eagles are currently 13th in the Championship, a huge 16 points adrift of the the play-offs.
