SOCCEROO Nick Carle is out to prove he won't get bogged down in the English mud as the British winter threatens to challenge his skills.
Known primarily as a ball-player, Carle's efforts to spray passes from A to B will become increasingly hampered as winter closes in and pitches become soggy, mudden and uneven.
However, the former Newcastle Jet isn't concerned about that and is confident he can continue to make a valuable contribution to the Crystal Palace cause.
Carle, who couldn't prevent his Palace side from crashing 2-1 to Nottingham Forest today, told the Croydon Advertiser: "I think it’s very important that I’m not perceived as just a ball player and that’s something I pride myself on.
“I always make sure I work hard and do my defensive duties. I’m not saying that it’s the best part of my game - but if it needs to be done then I will do that."
Carle is adamant that he is prepared for the less than glamorous side of the game and will willingly throw himself into it.
“I’m more than happy to roll my sleeves up and do the dirty work. At the end of the day it’s about getting the three points. It doesn’t matter how you have to do it.
“As the winter months approach it does get a little bit harder but you have to make sure you do right by the team," he said.
