SYDNEY FC are no one-man band with Alessandro Del Piero, and are not just riding their luck through their A-League winning streak, says midfielder Nicky Carle.
With coach Frank Farina under the supporters' blowtorch early in the season, the Sky Blues have turned the fans' frowns upside down with three successive wins – kick-started with a brave 10-man effort to beat Melbourne Victory three weeks ago.
Since then Sydney FC have beaten Melbourne Heart convincingly and Wellington Phoenix with a stoppage-time winner.
All three wins have come since Del Piero returned to the side after injury.
But Carle told Sportal's In Off the Post podcast while the Sky Blues are blessed to have Del Piero, Sydney FC are more than just the Italian superstar and 10 other blokes.
''In any team in the A-League – any team in the world – Alessandro's going to make a difference and it's no different with us," Carle said.
"He's a superb player, but one player alone doesn't win you games.
"The whole squad … they put in 110 per cent to make sure we give him the freedom to do what he's best at. We're blessed, we're very lucky to have him. But in saying that we all have to make it work as well."
Carle, one of his side's best this season, admits Sydney FC still have improvement to make despite rocketing into the A-League top four.
But he says Farina has assembled a good squad that has bonded well, and will improve as new players settle in.
"We've all got a good relationship, it's a great group, but it's a very new group.
"We've got a lot of new players coming, and we're still bonding and we're still getting things right."
