Carle, 28, picked up a minor hamstring strain against Macarthur Rams in a recent friendly and has been ruled out of the glamour friendly at ANZ Stadium tomorrow night.
The former Crystal Palace midfielder trained lightly today as the rest of the squad prepared for the game against Tim Cahill's Toffees.
"I'm a bit disappointed I'm not playing tomorrow and it's a big game," he told au.fourfourtwo.com today at Sydney's rainswept Macquarie University training base.
"Tomorrow is a real test for us but the most important thing is the first game of the A-League season against Melbourne Victory.
"I've had a minor set-back with a hamstring strain. It's nothing too serious but doing everything right with rehab. And here it's so professional at Sydney FC."
