Bristol City take on Hull City in the early hours of Sunday morning with the winning team securing promotion to the English Premier League.

Carle is in no mood to disappoint those cheering him on and while he cannot wait to step out at the home of English football, he isn’t just there to enjoy a day out.

The Socceroo midfielder, who missed out on the Ghana friendly, due to his play-off commitments, told City’s official website: “The family back home are really excited. Kick-off is in the middle of the night but they’ll be up at 4.30am to watch the game.

“They watched the last two games live (City’s wins over Crystal Palace in the play-off semi-finals) and then managed to put in a full day at work. Coverage is brilliant back in Australia.

“Everyone has been on at me for tickets and I’m flying my brother-in-law over for the game. You hear a lot about Wembley back home and it’s definitely the biggest game of my professional career.

“Everyone here tells me that the best way to go up is through Wembley. It’s going to be nerve wracking but I’m definitely looking forward to it. But we’re not just there to enjoy the day we’re there to win.

“They say it’s a 60 million pound game. That’s a pretty big carrot but we’re all focused and prepared. “We’re concentrating and making sure we do everything right. There’s no point getting there and not achieving what we set out to do.

“As a professional you want to be playing at the highest level possible. You’re always pushing yourself to see if you can achieve bigger and better things.

“I’ve always wanted to be part of the national side. It’s the biggest honour you can have in your career and playing in the Premier League could help me do that.”

Standing in Carle and City’s way are Hull City. The Tigers boast Aussie Richard Garcia in their side as they look to claim a spot in England’s top flight for the first time in their history.
