Hernandez arrived on Sunday and trained with Melbourne Victory today but won’t play on Wednesday night at AAMI Park.

“Carlos won’t be playing. He went to America on trials on his own accord and rocked up yesterday and trained today,” Durakovic said today.

“We knew that he was going on trials but basically we had some points to work out and told him to come back on July 4 – which he didn’t.”

The star playmaker and former A-League player of the year, as revealed by sources in Costa Rica, left Melbourne for a trial last week with MLS outfit Real Salt Lake.

The trial came at a time when Victory were – and still are – interested in signing superstar Harry Kewell. So the trial was seen as a potential way to reduce the club’s wages bill to help accommodate the Socceroo superstar.

However the Victory coach stressed the player was still wanted by the club despite confirming the disciplinary action taken by him.

Durakovic added: “He’s still a Melbourne Victory player and important to us.

"And we need him this year but as it is we’ve got rules and Carlos won’t be playing this week.”
