AS REVEALED by au.fourfourtwo.com on Tuesday, Socceroo David Carney has confirmed he will miss the rest of the season and Blackpool's fight for survival in the Premiership.
Carney, 27, hasn't played for the Tangerines due to a shoulder injury since returning from the Socceroos friendly against Germany in late March.
And Carney, who joined Blackpool on a one-year deal with a further year option in September last year, has now admitted he'll miss the rest of the campaign but is hoping to be right for pre-season.
"I saw the specialist the other day and he just said he recommends that I should get it done," Carney told the Blackpool official website.
"I was testing it out and it's not good - I think there is a bit of bone damage there, so it just needs fixing and hopefully I will be back for pre-season next year."
The former Sydney FC and Sheffield United has had shoulder problems before, missing most of last season at Dutch champions FC Twente with the injury before a similar scare at the 2011 Asian Cup.
Carney has managed only 11 appearances for the Tangerines this season, after joining them from Twente.
Blackpool are currently 17th in the English Premier League, one point above the drop zone, having only won once in their past 12 league matches.
