Leading into round six, Sydney are the only side that remain undefeated, with their five-point lead being the highest margin at this stage of the competition.

Ahead of Sunday's game against the Glory, Carney said it was no coincidence the Sky Blues are top of the table.

“So far we have won five in a row so it’s no fluke,” he told FourFourTwo.

“People can say you have ridden your luck here and there but it’s no fluke when you win five in a row. It’s hard work and especially coming from behind against Melbourne Victory - it’s shown the character.”

With the Sky Blues aiming to extend their undefeated start to six games, Carney is wary that each opponenet they face would love to put an end to Sydney’s perfect record.

“We know that there are a lot of quality teams in the A-League and all of those teams want to be the first to knock us off that winning streak,” he said, "so, it’s important there is no complacency in the team.

"But we’ve got a lot of experienced players in the side that won’t let that happen, we know we’ve got to be hungry and go into every game as fully prepared as possible.”

Perth will fancy their chances in ending Sydney’s winning streak after beating the Sky Blues twice in their last three encounters away, but Carney believes home town advantage will give the Sky Blues the win.

“It’s an important three points for both teams,” he said. “It’s always a good game between us and Perth. They’ve got a lot of good players as well. They’ve got depth in their squad and they’ve got players that can come on and change the game as well.

“Six in a row is going to be important for us. We are going into this game 100% wanting to win. We want to win every game and especially being at Allianz with our home fans we want to win every game at home also.

“We want to make Sydney a hard place for other teams to come and play here and with the confidence that we’ve got, the players that we’ve got, there is no reason why we can’t get the three points.”
