The 28-year-old signed the deal after leaving Spanish Segunda Division club Alcorcon last week following a disappointing spell where he struggled for first-team opportunities.

Bunyodkor announced the deal for Carney on the club website on Saturday after the Australia international had a successful trial for the past week in Turkey.

Carney and his new team-mates have now flown to Dubai for another pre-season camp ahead of the 2012 Uzbek season.

Bunyodkor are also competing in the AFC Champions League this season, where Carney will meet A-League outfit Adelaide United. Gamba Osaka and either Pohang Steelers or Chonburi are also in the group.

Carney, who has a long list of previous clubs including Blackpool, FC Twente, Sheffield United, Sydney FC and Everton, becomes the first Australian to play in Uzbekistan.

The left-sided Socceroo is familiar to Uzbekistan fans having scored in Australia's 6-0 2011 Asian Cup semi-final victory over the White Wolves.
