Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com this morning, Perry was keen to dispel any speculation regarding the rumored transfer.

The winger has left Australia to join the Socceroo camp in Singapore amid reports surrounding his playing future. Carney is said to be contemplating a move back to England; most notably to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. It was also reported that any move may happen quickly.

Perry however, clarified the situation saying, “The status is that the club has not received any formal offers from any club regarding David Carney. My understanding from talking with David and to his agent is that no official offer has been sent to David or his agent either.

“He has expressed no desire to leave; in fact he’s just signed a two-year deal with us. He’s also had a chat to Branko [Culina] and the fact that he’s been selected to play for the Socceroos has been a result of him playing for Sydney FC. That would indicate that his chances of playing for Australia are no greater overseas than they are in Australia. We’ve received no offer from any club regarding David; and from David’s lips to my ears and from his agent to my ears, they’ve received nothing official either.”

While the recently-departed Nick Carle said he would prefer a longer season, Carney’s season was extended this year due to Sydney FC’s involvement in the Asian Champions League. His two-year deal with Sydney FC was signed in April. At the time, he said: "I am happy to have re-signed with Sydney FC until 2009 and confident that the club will challenge for major honours in the coming seasons."
