Carney signed a one-year deal with Bunyodkor in February following a successful trial with the club after departing Spanish second division side AD Alcorcon.

The versatile left-footer debuted against Adelaide United in the AFC Champions League before opening his goalscoring account in a domestic match in April.

Since then the 28-year-old has failed to hold down a starting spot despite regularly featuring for the Socceroos, including as recently as last week in the shock 2-1 loss to Jordan in their 2014 World Cup Qualifying clash.

Speaking on Tuesday ahead of his side's first ACL quarter-final leg with Adelaide United this week, Qosimov openly stated that Carney was not in the squad to face the Reds and that he is prepared to terminate the out-of-form full back's contract.

"At this moment, Carney is still our player, but if he finds any other options or clubs he can go there … we will terminate our contract with him," Qosimov said.

"In his position, I have better players.

"When we took him at the start of the season we hoped he would help us in the (ACL) championship and (Uzbek) league, but at the moment I have better players.

"As a foreigner he must be better … but he has not shown us a good game or good results and for this reason he is not here (in Adelaide) and will stay in Tashkent."

Qosimov believed Carney's failure to deliver for Bunyodkor was due to his national allegiances.

The 42-year-old suggested Carney focused and worked harder when donning the green and gold.

"When he plays for the national team, he shows more and plays better than for our club," Qosimov said.

"He has a contract and must work for the full season to help our club and show results before his national team."

With Carney's future in limbo, Hyundai A-League clubs have been put on high alert.

Adelaide United assistant coach Michael Valkanis said regardless of where Carney plays, it is vital he finds a new home soon to remain in contention for the Socceroos as they battle for a World Cup spot in Brazil 2014.

"As a Socceroo he's got to be playing … wherever it is," Valkanis said.

"He has to be playing 90 minutes if he wants to figure for the Socceroos so obviously he must decide what to do soon."
