SOCCEROO David Carney can not wait to face world-class opponents every week in the English Premier League following his deadline day move from FC Twente to Blackpool.
Carney, 26, won the title with Twente last term but only managed eight substitute appearances in the Eredivisie and now is eagerly anticipating Premiership football with the Seasiders who face Newcastle this weekend.
"I've come back from playing against a lot of really good players at the World Cup and you get that buzz and feeling and you want to do it every week and now I can," he told the Blackpool website.
"It's something I'm really looking forward to, as a footballer you can't wait to get out there and play and to play against the likes of Newcastle is what you want."
The left-sided ex-Sheffield United man revealed he is excited about playing Blackpool's brand of football.
"I went to Holland because of that and to come here and play that way, just to play a fast game on the ground will suit me," he said.
"I'm just looking forward to working and hopefully playing well."
Carney has finally linked up with his new teammates at Bloomfield Road following Socceroos duty having signed a deal with the club last week.
The Australian international revealed his excitement about his move.
"I've heard they're a great bunch of lads, great to work with and a great team spirit so that's what you want to hear," he said.
Blackpool travel to St James' Park on Saturday to face Newcastle in the Premier League.
