SOCCEROO David Carney still believes he can 'do a job' for Sheffield United and could return there when his loan spell at Norwich City ends.
Carney has linked up again with Ian Crook at Carrow Road and despite looking forward to getting some first team football under his belt, it doesn't necessarily mean the door has been slammed shut on Sheffield United.
He told The Star: "I still believe I can do a job for Sheffield United. It's a great club, a great stadium and I think the fans like me.
"They've always been good to me at least and it would have been good to have been a part of trying to go for the play-offs.
"But I do need to be playing some football because it's been a long time since I did that."
Carney still has a year-and-a-half left on his Blades deal and has found himself completely out of the first team picture under Kevin Blackwell.
And as well as the need for domestic action, there is also the small matter of trying to keep himself in Pim Verbeek's plans.
Carney said: "I've got a game against Japan coming up for Australia and the coach there told me I needed to be involved at lot more."
The Socceroo believes the switch to Norwich is a good one though and he likes the way City go about their business on the pitch.
"I saw Norwich against us (United) recently and I thought they moved the ball around well which should suit me.
"I'm really looking forward to doing well for them and I'll be giving it my utmost. Then we'll have to see what happens. If I go down there and do well then it certainly can't do me any harm.
"Like I say I still think I can bring something to United but the manager (Kevin Blackwell) is the most important person and I respect his decisions."
