Jamie Carragher is convinced Liverpool can produce a special delivery against Debrecen in the Champions League tomorrow.
And the Anfield defender also sees the need for a top performance from Liverpool regardless of whether they qualify for the last 16.
Carragher knows it will be tough against the Hungarian champions, with their fate no longer in their own hands.
He said: "We always believe at this club that we can do special things. We have done it in the past and we know we can do it again.
"We have grown up with this team and the manager over the last five years, so it (the Champions League) is a part of the club.
"We have got ourselves into a bit of a hole, and hopefully we can get out of it. It has been done before and we know we can do it again."
He added: "We have to win our own game. The worse possible scenario is that the other game goes for us and we don't do our job. We must concentrate on our own game.
"What happens here tomorrow is not just about the Champions League. A win here will get the confidence going again and us playing well again.
"We have a big game at Everton on Sunday, so we want to get a good result to give us confidence - not just for the Champions League but for other big games too.
"We need a good result, a good performance. There is a lot more at stake than a Champions League win. We just have to do our job and hope the other game go for us."
Liverpool must beat Debrecen and hope Lyon do not lose away to Fiorentina.
He continued: "The hardest thing is that our destiny is not in our own hands.
"In previous situations we have had in the Champions League we have been able to look after ourselves.
"But the main thing is that we must concentrate on winning our own games and hopefully things go our way. The main thing is to look after ourselves and to get the three points.
"Having to win does simplify how we play, sometimes in Europe a draw is not a bad result. But we know that will not do this time.
"We have to win, but if we were in this position or not, we would be looking to win here.
"It could be the two late goals in the two games with Lyon that will seal our fate, but who knows?
"Nobody knows what will happen in the last two games in the group.
"Conceding late goals is a blow, but that's over now, we have got to look forward. We will worry about what has happened at the end of the six games, we can only now focus on winning and going through.
"We cannot worry about what has happened in the past, we must look forward and still believe we can go through (to the last 16).
"If we don't then we will have to deal with it when it happens, not now."
