The 31-year-old made his debut aged just 18 and on the 13th anniversary of that occasion he has said that he would love to stay with the club until the day he retires.

"It would be a dream come true to end my career in the club," said Casillas, who first joined the Castilla academy as a youngster.

"I had the privilege of starting out when I was only nine.

"Time goes quickly, but I'm really pleased with all the things that Real Madrid have given me and all that I've given the club."

Having played 630 matches for Real Madrid, Casillas has collected two Champions League titles, two Intercontinental Cups, five La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, one European Super Cup and three Spanish Supercopas with Madrid.

He has also won the World Cup and two European Championships with Spain.

"Thirteen years have gone by and you hope that there'll be many more," Casillas said.

"My contract is until I'm 36 and my dream is to retire when I'm 39."
