The chances of Spanish maestro Diego Castro heading east have taken a hit despite rumours of a move to a rival A-League club.
The Perth Glory marquee has been at the centre of recent speculation of a move to Sydney FC ahead of the 2017/18 season.
As part of the rumoured move, Castro would have taken up a role as a marquee player.
However, this is news to those within the club out west, who deny that any move has been made for the star attacker.
A source within the club have dubbed the speculation as 'erroneous' and brandished it as a move to destabilise the club ahead of its vital clash with the table topping Sky Blues this Sunday with a home final still to play for.
Castro has been ever-present for the Glory once again this season with the reigning Johnny Warren medallist chipping in 10 goals in 21 games for the Glory.
When pressed for an official statement by FourFourTwo, both clubs declined to comment on 'social media speculation'.
