The Paris Saint-Germain pair started together for the first time since the Uruguayan arrived at the club, but Ajaccio held on for a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Cavani, who opened his account with a late equaliser, saw promising signs in the display.

And he was quick to dismiss the suggestion that the two would be unable to play together.

"It (their relationship) is normal, there is no problem," he told L'Equipe. "We are complementary, that's for sure. With time, we will be even better on the ground."

The defending champions were frustrated by Fabrizio Ravanelli's side at the Parc des Princes and Cavani admitted that he was disappointed not to get all three points.

"This is football," he added. "This is my first goal and it is nice, but it does not do much good if you do not win at the end.

"We deserved to win. We had so many opportunities but we will improve gradually.

"With hard work, we will achieve our goals."

Cavani arrived at PSG in July after scoring 78 goals in 104 Serie A games for previous club Napoli.
